Creative Kickstart!

You may have noticed some changes to the look and feel of our website and social media profiles over the last few weeks. New colors, updated logos, and eye-catching illustrations fill our brand new brochures and mailers. So, how did we suddenly become the youth center with the coolest branding in history? Sidekick Creative! A local graphic design company, Sidekick Creative, opened up a contest for a rebranding intensive called the Creative Kickstart...and the YC won! With a few weeks of prep work (collecting images, and letting us talk their ears off about the YC), the entire process was done in a weekend-long design “marathon”.

The Creative Kickstart is valued at around $20,000 and left us with everything from hand-drawn icons for each of our activities, to a fully functioning website on an entirely new platform. These items are crucial for a nonprofit like the youth center. 90% of our funding comes from grant writing and reaching out for donations. It is imperative that we have the tools to properly show funders all that the center has to offer, that they are able to get the true picture of the children we serve and the magic of our building. Sidekick Creative (a mighty team of four, and a volunteer copywriter!) not only managed to create a professional, yet fun, brand for the GFAYC, they were also able to capture the heart and love for the organization within their work. One of the most powerful pieces they were able provide was an incredibly illustration of former Executive Director, Matt Congdon. Molly said it best in a post on our Instagram where she shared her appreciation for the image of her dad (be sure to scroll back and check it out).

We can’t thank the Sidekick Creative team enough for their attention to detail, patience, and love for the YC. The true test was when we shared the new brand with the kids...they were thrilled! We encourage you to take some time to explore our new site, subscribe to our newsletter, and buckle up-- because we are just getting started!
