Carly's Favorites for Staying In!

Winter can be a hard season for many of us between the freezing cold temperatures and fewer hours of daylight each day. In a typical year we may fill our free time by visiting with friends, going to the movies, or even just window shopping at the mall. With the ongoing pandemic, and the continued pleas to stay home, it can sometimes be overwhelming, and increase those feelings of cabin fever. Our staff has compiled a list of some of our favorite ways to stay home and safe during the pandemic! Up next: Carly!

Q-What’s your favorite movie?

Carly: I love so many movies, but I really loved Arrival

Q-What snack do you love to have while watching a movie?

Carly: Chips and dip. Any variety. Ruffles with French onion dip, tortilla chips with salsa or guac...I love snacks.

Q-Buttered popcorn or kettle corn?

Carly: Buttered popcorn from the movie theater, or kettle corn from the fair! They each have their rightful place!

Q-Favorite board game?

Carly: Scattergories or Yahtzee

Q-On a lazy weekend at home, are you someone who stays in your pj’s all day or do you put on “real” clothes?

Carly: Pj's. The second I get home, I immediately throw on sweatpants and refuse to put on "real" clothes until I have to leave again

Q-What’s a book you have read that you just couldn’t put down?

Carly: Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult

Q-What’s your favorite show to binge watch?

Carly: RuPaul's Drag Race! I've seen every season (from every country) multiple times. Never gets old!

Q-Are there any projects you’re working on at home right now?

Carly: Wedding Planning! I'm getting married in 2022 and while we are staying home so much to stay safe, it's been fun to spend time on Pinterest kind of daydreaming about next year. I also decided that I want to learn hand lettering/calligraphy and I bought the supplies...I do not have a natural skill for this, but I've committed to practicing. Practice makes progress!

Q-Slippers, socks, or barefoot?

Carly: Slippers AND Socks! I am always cold, so it's usually two pairs of socks and slippers for the entirety of winter

Q-Bake cookies or buy cookies?

Carly: Bake. But even better, BROWNIES. Just the greatest dessert.

Q-Most used app when you’re relaxing at home?

Carly: Instagram, and honestly TikTok. I am old(er) and resisted downloading it for so long, but I really do get a kick out of all the life hacks and silly dog videos!
