Testimonial Tuesday: Adam Thung

Today’s Testimonial Tuesday is brought to us by a former member, and the creator of our favorite little weight lifter (featured in the logo above), Adam Thung! Thank you Adam for sharing your love of the YC!

“The Glens Falls Area Youth Center is an amazing learning and recreation center that I am proud to have been a member of. I grew up on the same street as the Youth Center, only a few buildings away. Going to the Youth Center after school was a regular occurrence for me. While I initially went to play pool, dodgeball, workout, and socialize, the Youth Center became so much more. The Youth Centers, former director Matt Congdon was a selfless, energetic, and wise mentor. Matt would regularly integrate life skills, morals, and character craftsmanship into the Youth Center’s games, fitness, and education. As a kid, we were just having fun but as an adult, I realized how crucial Matt’s wisdom was for becoming a better person. Matt always encouraged members to follow their passions and be compassionate to others. He always brought out the best in the people he interacted with, even when we were having a bad day. Matt was a selfless individual who, always went out of his way to take care of the needs of others before himself. Personally, Matt provided me guidance throughout my tenure at the Youth Center. He taught me the importance of education and work ethic. He guided me throughout the college process. He taught me work ethic by having me mow his lawn, helping out at the Youth Center, and guided me in applying for jobs and scholarships. I always loved talking with Matt because he would provide a unique perspective on how to look at each scenario from a different point of view. For many members including myself, these skills weren’t taught at home. Many people look at celebrities, presidents, or family as role models. Matt is my role model. The Youth Center was a foundation for me to become a better person and achieve success. Many things I learned at the Youth Center I use(d) in college, work, and parenthood. The Youth Center was life-changing for so many youngsters, which I hope will be around for generation after generation. I am fully confident in Molly’s, direction and leadership. I look forward to seeing how Youth Center evolves throughout the years and continues to fulfill their mission.”
