What Makes Molly's Christmas Merry?
The holiday season is something that many people look forward to throughout the year, no matter what you celebrate! The food, music, and traditions are unique for every family, so we wanted to get to know how our staff chooses to celebrate. Last but not least- Molly!
Q: What’s your favorite Christmas movie?
Molly: My favorite Christmas movie is definitely It’s a Wonderful Life. George Bailey(the main
character) reminds me so much of my dad; a good man who always thinks of others before
himself. I strive to be that selfless and watching this movie always gives me hope that there are some genuinely good people in this world, despite all of the bad that we may be experiencing— especially in 2020!
Q: What’s your most cherished Christmas memory?
Molly: One year my parents and I went Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve in downtown Saratoga. It was so much fun! We walked around as a light snow fell, had hot chocolate and cookies, and laughed the entire time. It truly was the epitome of a perfect afternoon/evening. I wish I could have one more Christmas Eve like that with my dad.
Q: Favorite decoration?
Molly: The lights on the tree.
Q: If you could pick the location of your Xmas celebration where would it be and why?
Molly: I need snow at Christmas. I could never, ever celebrate on a tropical island! Our area is actually so ideal for this time of year. #AdirondacksForLife
Q: What is the most delicious Christmas dessert?
Molly: My grandmother’s Jello Cake. She made it every year on Christmas to celebrate Jesus’ birthday. Seriously it’s SO good!
Q: Do you prefer presents or your stocking?
Molly: When I was growing up we always saved the stockings for last. I think that stockings are just the best part.
Q: What are some of your classic leading up to Christmas activities?
Molly: Singing Christmas songs, making cookies(of all kinds!), finding the perfect gifts for all of my friends and family, writing letters to Santa with my kids, driving around looking at Christmas lights, watching Christmas movies…Can you tell that I love Christmas?
Q: What is your favorite aspect of the holiday?
Molly: The magic. My mom always made every holiday enchanting— especially Christmas. She never failed to bring joy into our home. I’m so thankful to her for that. It made all the difference for me and how I view the world.
Q: What is on your Christmas list this year?( either #1 or top three!)
Molly:
1.Everyone stays healthy/COVID disappears forever
2. My kids have a wonderful Christmas
3. Some very cozy slippers
Q: What is your funniest Christmas memory?
Molly: Every year, as soon as the stockings were hung in the living room with care, my dad would put everyday items inside my stocking as a prank. Each object was large enough that it was obvious something was indeed inside Santa.(Side note: My stocking is Santa and instead of actually being a sock he has six pockets! BEST STOCKING EVER!) Of course whenever I called him out on it, he played dumb and— while giving me his most sarcastic grin— would say, “Oh wow, how did that get in there? You couldn’t possibly think I had anything to do with it!” Then we would erupt with laughter. It became our own little Christmas game. Of course there was that one year the Christmas tree actually fell on me! And, let me tell you, that thing was hefty and heavy. At least we all got a good laugh out of it!
Q: Favorite Christmas book?
Molly: The Polar Express.
Q: Grinch or Scrooge?
Molly: Grinch(Jim Carey won me over!)
Q: The Santa Clause or The Polar Express?
Molly: Is this even a choice? The Polar Express!
Q: Favorite Christmas song?
Molly: This is so tough because there are so many Christmas songs that I truly love… “All I Want For Christmas is You,” “White Christmas,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree;” however, if I had to pick just one I’d have to say, “O Holy Night.”
Q: Favorite Christmas tradition ( mistletoe, caroling, lights, cookies, etc. )
Molly: I love singing Christmas carols while making some chocolate chip cookies. Spoiler Alert: Santa doesn’t get them all!
Q: What message do you feel is most important during the holiday season? Especially this year!
Molly: Treating others with kindness and consideration. (Yes, that includes wearing a mask and being socially distant!) This pandemic has been tough on all of us in one way or another. We can get through it together!
Q: What word exemplifies the true meaning Christmas to you?
Molly: Faith.
