Love Where You Live: GFCT Summer Family Series
Everyone in the community is eager to get back to our traditional summer fun. Theater and the arts are a huge part of what makes our area so special, and it has been a long year without any live performances. We’ve got a suggestion for the PERFECT way to get your family to a show in a safe way...The Glens Falls Community Theatre Summer Family Series!
The Glens Falls Community Theatre has been a staple in the community since 1935. The Summer Family Series premieres Tuesday July 6th, with the first live show since their closing performance of a production of Godspell last March! The Summer Series will take place at the bandshell in Crandall park and showcase two different family-friendly plays-- one for July and one for August. Did we mention these performances will be totally free?! (But, of course, donations to GFCT are always welcome) Seating will be available on the lawn, so feel free to bring some chairs or a blanket, pack a picnic, or plan to visit one of the food trucks that will be in attendance!
Performances will take place every Tuesday, with a start time of 6:30pm. First up is a production of Miss Nelson is Missing! The description on the GFCT website reads: “When a sweet elementary school teacher, Miss Nelson, fails to take control over her unruly class at Horace B. Smedley School, she decides to shift her soft approach. Miss Viola Swamp, a real witch of a substitute, slinks into the classroom to whip the students into shape, thus leading the students to believe that Miss Nelson is Missing!” Following this hilarious show, August will highlight a production of Charlotte’s Web!
We encourage all of our YC families to make their way to Crandall Park this summer to support our local artists, and expose the next generation to the performing arts. Live theater is so important, and we know it’s only a matter of time until we see some of our performance-loving YC kids up on that stage!
Congratulations, GFCT! We are so thrilled to see a safe theater experience in the community this summer!
